Can we talk about the Emolot Bag Series for a little bit?
This idea actually came from an old project I had started a while back when I had no resources to pull it off. It was called What Everyone Is Wearing In Kampala (WEIWIK), and the idea was to showcase the different styles of Kampala women.
I've always been passionate about creating an archive for the Kampala lifestyle, especially when it comes to women. Even after years of WEIWIK being paused, the idea and that zeal still burned inside me.
Fast forward to now, I realized I had some of the resources—at least enough to turn it into the Emolot Bag Series. I remember texting my photographer/videographer with all my excitement, sharing this vision of what I wanted to create. While reality eventually settled in, and I scaled it back from a full wardrobe showcase to just focusing on Emolot bags, I was still thrilled about what we could do.
I absolutely loved directing this series. It was such a joy to see how the bags I’ve crafted are actually making someone’s life easier. We shot four of the women on the same day, and although some didn’t know each other, we all got to chatting, sharing tips from beauty to career. It was such a vibe! And by the way, I discovered Fabiola Beauty’s lip glosses are fire—definitely check them out!
When you think about it, the way we interact with our bags still falls under the umbrella of essentials—what we can’t live without and what makes our lives easier. I hope this series grows into something bigger. I’d love to eventually create a space for more insightful conversations among women.
For now, I’ll leave you with just a glimpse of the most recent episode, which you can watch on our YouTube channel.
With love,
Emolot
